Ryan Gosling is in charge of bringing Ken to life in what is arguably the most anticipated movie of the year, ‘Barbie’. Earlier this week, a new teaser showing one of the scenes of the film was posted online and he stole the spotlight with his performance and impeccable comedic timing.
Although the online community was not sold on Gosling playing Ken when the casting was announced a few years ago, it looks like Greta Gerwig, the movie’s director, knew what she was doing as the American actor has proven to be the perfect choice for the role.
In the latest teaser for ‘Barbie’, Ken is being treated after getting injured while surfing and he comments on the situation by saying: “Shredding waves is much more dangerous than people realize.” Shortly after, Barbie cheers him up by telling him: “You’re very brave Ken.”
In addition, Ken makes fun of his job and usefulness inside the ‘Barbie’ universe: “You know surfing isn’t even my job, and it is no lifeguard, which is a common misconception” while different Barbies stare at him in shock. He ends the scene by saying: “Actually, my job, it’s just beach” in a very funny way and proving that Ryan Gosling is an incredible comedy actor.
After the new teaser was posted online, thousands of fans commented on the scene praising Ryan Gosling’s performance and expressing their excitement for ‘Barbie.’ The movie releases in theaters all over the world on July 20. Watch the trailer below:
