Amber Heard is back in the spotlight with her upcoming movie ‘In The Fire’ and she finally decided to break her silence in regard to the controversial legal battle with her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, during one of the interviews to promote the film. After all the accusations and drama, Heard is now demanding that her career be respected.
Although the American actress has been keeping a low profile in Spain for several months now, she attended the Taormina Film Fest in Italy earlier this week and was interviewed by Deadline. During the interview, she addressed her reputation and the egregious critics she has received over the last couple of years:
“Right now, I just kind of want to not have, you know, stones thrown at me so much. So let’s get the elephant out of the room then, and just let me say that. I am an actress. I’m here to support a movie. And that’s not something I can be sued for.”
On top of that, Amber Heard also commented on how her career has been affected as a result of the controversies but she believes she will overcome this difficult situation and continue doing what she loves:
“I have decades in this industry. I’m not telling you I have this amazing film career, but what I have is something that I’ve made, myself, and it has given me a lot to be able to contribute. The odds of that in this industry are really improbable but somehow, here I am.”
In the same vein, she thinks that her accomplishments in the entertainment industry should be respected and what happened does not define her as a person or as an actress:
“I think I’ve earned respect for that to be its own thing. That’s substantial enough. What I have been through, what I’ve lived through, doesn’t make my career at all. And it’s certainly not gonna stop my career.”
Despite all the controversies, her fans are eagerly waiting for her comeback to the silver screen and it is safe to say that they will support her no matter what.
