Earlier today, King Charles III celebrated his second coronation ceremony in Scotland alongside Queen Camilla and he was accompanied by several members of the Royal Family such as Kate Middleton and Prince William. Just before the event, the sovereign of the United Kingdom surprised everyone with a lovely visit to a special place.
Prior to the second coronation ceremony, Charles made a lovely visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia which is said to have been Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite yacht. Although he traveled to the country to be presented with the Honours of Scotland, he made this quick stop during his trip to honor his mother’s legacy.
The ship is also well known as Her Majesty’s Yacht Britannia and it was built in 1953 to be launched by Queen Elizabeth II during that same year. The royal yacht served the Royal Family until 1997 and even appeared in the fifth season of Netflix’s ‘The Crown.’ At present, it works as a museum ship which is open to the public.
During King Charles III’s visit to the yacht, he was received by Bob Downie, who is the Chief Executive of The Royal Yacht Britannia Trust, and several collaborators that work at the museum. Shortly after, the King traveled to the Palace of Holyroodhouse to get ready for his second coronation ceremony.
