Marvel actor Anthony Mackie has turned against Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, franchises that only featured one-color casts.
Anthony Mackie, the MARVEL actor, known for his important role as Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, during an interview with Inverse, has criticized Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings for their lack of diversity and inclusion of people of color.
Although initially in the interview he spoke about his directorial debut in Spark, Anthony Mackie took the moment to criticize the aforementioned films, stressing that in Spark people and young people of color will feel identified and inspired.
“Harry Potter had no friends of color, Frodo walked for a long time through towns and countryside and never met a man of color. I’d like to see Frodo in the neighborhood, and if I’m ever on Saturday Live Night, I’ll do a skit about it,” said Anthony Mackie, demonstrating the lack of opportunities that people of color had in the film industry a few years ago.
