Prince William has always been one of the most beloved members of the Royal Family due to his charming attitude and willingness to help others with his projects. During his most recent visit to Northern Ireland as part of his charity endeavors, William surprised everyone with his reaction to hearing a story about his grandfather, the late Prince Philip.
Earlier this week, the Prince of Wales traveled to Northern Ireland to visit the East Belfast Mission at the Skainos Centre. He was there to work on his ‘Homewards’ project, which looks to eradicate homelessness in the United Kingdom and was pleasantly surprised with a story about the former Duke of Edinburgh.
Reverend Brian Anderson, who was showing William the centre, took advantage of the opportunity and decided to share one of his many stories about working with Prince Philip. According to him, Philip always spoke frankly in an attempt to persuade politicians and officials and get funds for the centre.
“He just immediately asked, ‘Why don’t you just give them the money?’ There was an expletive in there but I’m not going to say that. And three weeks later the money turned up.”
After hearing this story, Prince William was clearly amused and reacted by saying: “That sounds like my grandfather.” On top of that, he also could not resist expressing how much his grandfather inspired him to be a better person: “I feel lucky to have not just had his example to guide me, but his enduring presence well into my own adult life – both through good times and the hardest days.”
