Stray Kids’ Felix received a series of death threats on social media after it was announced that the boy band is going to hold their first offline fan sign event in China. After the news broke, several users on mainland China expressed their desire to hurt him, and his fans, the so-called STAY, are now distraught and desperate to protect him.
Earlier this week, the STAY alerted JYP Entertainment about the constant death threats that the Australian rapper is currently receiving. According to them, the boy band’s security and integrity should be above all and they need to ensure that everyone is safe during these kinds of events.
Everything began when a Chinese user posted several threatening messages directed at Felix on Weibo and that put his life at risk. In one of the posts, the anonymous user revealed that he had bought a powerful laser pointer which he plans to use during the offline fan sign event with the intention of making Felix go blind.
After the posts went viral, the STAY was deeply distraught and highly concerned since laser pointers can cause a lot of harm if they are pointed straight at the eyes of a person and could even make them go blind. On top of that, the fans noticed the user has been spreading misinformation about some members of the band such as Hyunjin.
Although it is common for idols to receive several death threats, Felix’s fans are extremely concerned about the situation because this is Stray Kid’s first offline fan sign event in China. The event will be held in Qingdao on July 16 so they are demanding JYP Entertainment protect them and bring them home safely and are letting their voices be heard on social media with the hashtag #ProtectFelix.
