Chaos at Marvel Studios: someone stole a script from ‘The Avengers’ movie

Marvel Studios is arguably the most successful studio of the past decade and one of the keys to their success is their ability to keep everything under wraps. However, Samuel L. Jackson recently revealed in a press conference with Entertainment Weekly that, a few years ago, chaos ensued in the studio after someone stole a script from ‘The Avengers movie’.

As part of the promotional cycle for the studio’s latest series ‘Secret Invasion’, Jackson gave several interviews to the press. In his interview with Entertainment Weekly, he revealed one of Marvel’s biggest secrets to date: someone was able to steal a script from ‘The Avengers’ movie, which was released in 2012, and caused chaos inside the studio. After the script was stolen, it was put up for sale online:

“I remember when we got ready to do ‘Avengers,’ someone printed out a copy of my ‘Avengers’ script that had my watermark on it, and put it online for sale, I was shooting in Canada and Marvel came to Canada. It had been printed in the production office… They found out who it was, dude quit and left the country. They set up a fake buy for the script, dude didn’t show up. It was crazy. I had no idea printers had memories at that time.”

As a result, Marvel Studios reinforced its security protocols to prevent this from ever happening again. According to Samuel L. Jackson himself, the studio has even shot several drones which were trying to sneak in and get information from their productions. “They shot one down. And they followed one back to where the dude was. They found him and, yeah, they got him.” He then added that “there are worse examples than that” but he cannot reveal much.
