Meghan Markle is back on Netflix after the streaming platform revealed the series and movies that will be coming to its catalog in the next few weeks, including ‘Suits’ which became available on June 17. However, some people called out the release date as an attempt to overshadow King Charles III’s official birthday event Trooping the Colour as it took place on the same day.
In the show, the Duchess of Sussex portrayed Rachel Elizabeth Zane, daughter of one of the best lawyers in the city, for seven seasons between 2011 and 2018. However, USA Network and Universal Cable Productions had no choice but to release a statement clarifying that Meghan would no longer be part of the series after she and Prince Harry announced their engagement:
“From all of us at USA Network and Universal Cable Productions, we want to send our most heartfelt congratulations to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on their engagement. Meghan has been a member of our family for seven years and it has been a joy to work with her. We want to thank her for her undeniable passion and dedication to Suits, and we wish her the very best.”
After Meghan Markle left, the series continued for two additional seasons until its final season in 2019. ‘Suits’ was a great success in the United States so it is not surprising that Netflix decided to pick it up for its catalog with hopes of reaching a new audience and bringing back the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s fans.
