SEVENTEEN has become one of the most popular boy bands in the K-pop industry. Since their debut in 2015, they have gained a lot of attention around the world due to their charisma and incredible talent. However, their management agency banned the group’s fans, the so-called CARAT, from giving them birthday cakes.
K-pop fans are well-known for always demonstrating their support for their favorite groups with letters and gifts. However, PLEDIS Entertainment, SEVENTEEN’s management agency, had to come up with a countermeasure to avoid receiving so many cakes as birthday presents.
Everything began on June 10, 2016, when Jun celebrated his 20th birthday and posted a photo with all the presents that were delivered to him. He got a lot of beautiful messages but what surprised everyone is that he got 65 birthday cakes. 5 days later, on June 15, 2016, Hoshi suffered the same fate, and a ridiculous amount of birthday cakes were delivered to him.
Since that day, the CARAT noticed that both the company and the boy band’s members stopped sharing pictures showing their birthday presents. The fans would later find out that PLEDIS Entertainment made the decision to no longer accept cakes as birthday presents, and, although they did not release any official statement, they stopped receiving the cakes.
Even though cakes were banned as birthday presents, the fans of the boy band continued showing their loyalty and support through different means, proving that their love for SEVENTEEN is unconditional and nothing will ever change it.
