Meghan Markle’s podcast was a complete failure on Spotify and it will not have a second season

Meghan Markle’s podcast, ‘Archetypes’, failed to meet the requirements set by Spotify, leading to the cancellation of the second season and the abrupt termination of her deal with the streaming giant. Although she received several awards for her work on the podcast, it looks like the Swedish company was not happy with the results.

Earlier this week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s spokesperson confirmed that the audio-streaming platform and Archewell Audio, the couple’s production company, have mutually agreed to part ways by releasing a joint statement: “We are proud of the series we made together.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex mutually agreed with Spotify to put an end to their deal because the royal couple did not meet the productivity benchmarks that were previously set as part of their $20 million contract and canceled any further plans to release a second season of Meghan Markle’s podcast.

‘Archetypes’ premiered on August 23, 2022, and it ran for a single season that ended on November 29, 2022. Its main focus was to have conversations with inspirational women in the entertainment and sports industry such as Serena Williams and Mariah Carey with the objective of “investigating, dissecting, and subverting the labels that try to hold women back.”
