Princess Diana reportedly had an affair with James Hewitt in the years leading to her separation from King Charles III in 1992. At the same time, Charles was also having an affair with his now-wife, Queen Camilla. Earlier this week, Prince Harry openly spoke in court about the rumor that claims that Hewitt is his father, rekindling the public’s interest in Diana’s relationship with the military officer.
According to the Duke of Sussex’s testimony at the London High Court, several British tabloids orchestrated a plan to steal his DNA with the intention of proving if King Charles III was really his father back in 2002. On top of that, he addressed his mother’s affair and revealed that she had not met him when he was born so there should not be any reason for still believing that someone different from Charles is his father.
In 1999, Hewitt published his memoir ‘Love and War’ and explained that Princess Diana asked him to give her horse riding lessons after meeting him at a party in 1986. Thanks to this, they would get close to each other which eventually led to them having an affair.
At the time, the press was quick to point out Prince Harry’s physical resemblance with James Hewitt and the people questioned whether or not he could be his father. However, he would later shut down all the rumors: “There really is no possibility whatsoever that I am Harry’s father. I can understand the interest, but Harry was already walking by the time my relationship with Diana began.”
