Meghan Markle pulled out of attending awards show after ‘near catastrophic’ car chase in the United States

Meghan Markle attended the Ms. Foundation’s Women of Vision Awards in New York with Prince Harry and her mother a few weeks ago. After the event, they got involved in a ‘near catastrophic’ car chase with the paparazzi and this incident could be the reason why she decided to pull out of making an appearance at another award show.

The Duchess of Sussex opted out of attending the 48th Annual Gracie Awards which were held on May 23 at the Beverly Wilshire in Los Angeles. At the ceremony, she was set to be honored with the Podcast Host award in the category of Entertainment for her work in ‘Archetypes’. Despite this, it looks like she decided to prioritize her safety after the unsettling experience in New York during that same week.

Although Meghan’s followers were eager to see her receive an award for her outstanding work, it is clear that what happened in New York could have been traumatic and her safety is more important. However, she made sure to express her gratitude and released a statement on the Archewell Foundation website:

“Thank you to the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation for this prestigious honor. This is a shared success for me and the team behind Archetypes — most of whom are women — and the inspiring guests who joined me each week.”

It is uncertain how long will Meghan Markle stay out of the public eye but it is safe to say that her comeback will get a lot of attention. According to a source close to the family, she and Prince Harry celebrated Princess Lilibet’s second birthday this weekend as a family.
