Jennifer Lawrence today has a successful career as a Hollywood actress on the big screen, but her career hasn’t always been smooth sailing. In the past, the Mockingjay star was had to attend a casting without any clothing on and face insulting remarks from a producer.
Many people may only see the surface of a celebrity’s life since they believe it to be all about money and luxuries, yet in order to achieve their goals, they must make many sacrifices. It is no secret that the global entertainment industry has its drawbacks, forcing musicians or performers to work under circumstances they were not prepared for.
In an interview with People for “Women in Hollywood” in 2017, actress Jennifer Lawrence alluded to this by saying that when she first entered the entertainment industry, she had to endure a humiliating experience because a producer asked her and the other girls who were auditioning to lose 15 pounds in two weeks in order to meet the beauty standards of the role they were going to play.
Jennifer Lawrence battled for the role of Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games franchise, and even though she won it, the actress had to endure the humiliation of stripping off in front of several people while they told her that she was ideal for the part but needed to lose a lot of weight quickly.
After dealing with these remarks and performing an audition in her underwear, Jennifer Lawrence confronted one of the producers who had made the offensive remarks, but his response shocked her because he
“told her that he did not know how they thought she was so fat, if for him she was perfectly fuckable.”
