Pedro Pascal admitted that he had a difficult time after contracting an eye disease following the enormous success of the Game of Thrones series, saying, “I caught it after I let my fans put their thumbs over my eyes.” This confession was made during the most recent episode of “The Hollywood Reporter” actors’ roundtable.
Pedro Pascal recently disclosed that he contracted a nasty infection as a result of letting his fans cover his eyes with their thumbs. Pascal discussed his favorite experiences interacting with viewers of his character and the entire series alongside Kieran Culkin, Jeff Bridges, Michael Imperioli, Evan Peters, and Damson Idris.
“I remember, at the beginning, because of how my character (Oberyn Martell) died, people were super excited to take selfies with their thumbs in my eyes,” he explained as everyone around him laughed. Which caused him to get a terrible eye infection.
Oberyn Martell, the role Pascal played in the fourth season of the well-known Game of Thrones television series, was brutally executed in a duel to the death with Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane. where the latter seized him by the head, sticking his thumbs into his eyes before using his superhuman strength to eventually shatter his skull.
“I was so excited and happy about the success my character had in the series, I let them! In New York, of all places!”, “And then I remember getting an eye infection.” Confessed the 48-year-old actor.
