On the morning of Thursday, June 1st, Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin announced the end of their contract with their agency, SM Entertainment, which has accompanied them since their debut and has represented the acclaimed K-Pop group EXO to which they belong, all this due to the ‘abuse of power’ by the company.
The members of the group accuse the agency of a lack of transparency in payments, and through a legal representative, Lee Jae Hak, they officially notified the agency of the conclusion of their exclusive contracts with SM Entertainment.

The Soompi website reported that seven documents on their career earnings and payments have been sent to the agency since March 21st and none have been fulfilled so far, arousing suspicion and insecurities among artists who have the right to those demands.
According to a report from LIN, the idols plan to sue the agency in the case of payment irregularities and the company’s enslaving contract, which seeks to bind its artists with contracts of up to 17 or 18 years.
“This is the agency SM committing an unfair use of power against its artists once again“, they said.
