King Charles III and Queen Camilla were crowned as the new monarchs of the United Kingdom on May 6 at Westminster Abbey and the ceremony was considered a huge success. However, several royal followers expressed their curiosity about what role would Camilla assume if Charles passed away.
Although the question is a bit morbid, it is a fact that Charles assumed the British throne at such an old age and his health is easily compromised. As a result, the only community expects that the reign of the 74-year-old king will be short and that someone will have to replace him. However, Camilla not will be that person.
Even though Camilla is called queen, her official role is still Queen Consort. She does not have the same political and military power as King Charles III. She only received the title of queen after marrying the king but it does not hold any relevancy in relation to the line of succession. In case something happened to Charles, she would become the Queen Dowager.
By becoming the Queen Dowager, Camilla would be allowed to continue enjoying the status and comfort of being part of the royal family. However, she would stop being the Queen of the United Kingdom as Prince William would immediately assume the title of the King of the United Kingdom which means that Kate Middleton would become the new Queen.
