Prince Harry wanted to leave the royal family even before he met Meghan Markle

Prince Harry and his wife, whom he had met a few years prior, agreed to quit the British monarchy in 2020. Since that time, a lot of information has been circulated about the decision that caused him to resign as an active member of the royal family. The prince has admitted and verified that he planned to leave the royal family even before he met the woman who is now his wife, in spite of the statements they have made. A little over six years ago, the Mail on Sunday newspaper said that the prince had confirmed his desire to leave the royal family. At the time, he was somewhat frantic to lead a normal life, which was what he most desired.

This same fact was revealed in an interview with journalist and author Angela Levin, to whom Prince Harry revealed, before meeting his wife Meghan Markle, that he wanted to leave the British Crown. He told her about his struggles to find a meaningful position for himself within the royal family and how he frequently considered leaving, but he always remained loyal to his grandmother Queen Elizabeth because of this.

The prince at the time, at the age of 32, said “I have been kicking my heels for many years and I didn’t want to grow up, I felt I wanted to get out, but then stay and find a role for myself”.

This documented incident surely puts an end to all the theories that suggested that Meghan Markle’s pressure upon Prince Harry led to his resignation from the royal family. Even Nevertheless, it is evident that Prince Harry’s dream was granted because he now resides in the United States with his wife, two children, and a “completely normal” existence free of numerous restrictions.
