Prince Harry and Meghan Markle allegedly got involved in a ‘dangerous’ car chase with the paparazzi in the streets of New York after leaving an event. However, the details of the incident remain a mystery, and now the couple is demanding that Backrid, a celebrity news agency, release the photos and videos of what happened.
Earlier this week, the agency received a letter from Harry and Meghan’s legal team in which they demand that all the photos and videos of the car chase must be sent to them:
“We hereby demand that Backgrid immediately provide us with copies of all photos, videos, and/or films taken last night by the freelance photographers after the couple left their event and over the next several hours.”
According to the BBC, the California-based entertainment company immediately rejected the request from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the basis that America is the land of the free:
“In America, as I’m sure you know, the property belongs to the owner of it: Third parties cannot just demand it be given to them, as perhaps Kings can do. Perhaps you should sit down with your client and advise them that his English rules of the royal prerogative to demand that the citizenry hand over their property to the Crown were rejected by this country long ago. We stand by our founding fathers.”
This statement could be a huge blow to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s public image. They have been working very hard on improving the public’s opinion of them but the details of the car chase incident are still not clear and some people are even saying that they are exaggerating.
