Kate Middleton helped to bring Prince William and Queen Camilla together. According to an author close to the family, William and Camilla’s relationship has always been turbulent but things quickly changed after Kate became a member of the royal family and it looks like the two of them might be on better terms now thanks to her.
After Prince William and Prince Harry found out that King Charles III wanted to marry Camilla, they started to refer to her as an evil stepmother according to what Harry himself revealed in his recently published memoir, Spare. The Duke of Sussex also claimed that they begged their father to not do it.
Despite this, Charles ignored their own children and married her anyways. Since then, William and Harry’s only option was to face the cruel reality despite not wanting to and this appears to be the main reason why the two of them never had a close relationship with their stepmother.
However, the situation might be changed for the better in recent years. According to Angela Levin’s book ‘Camilla: from Outcast to Queen Consort’, Kate Middleton’s influence in William’s life helped him get closer to Camilla and their relationship has improved a lot since then:
“Fortunately, time helped improve Camilla’s relationship with senior Royals, including Prince William. Mainly because of the Princess of Wales who is a peacemaker. Camilla is also a conciliator and doesn’t nurse grievances. They both believe that supporting their husbands is a priority.”
It seems that William understands that the royal family needs to show the British people, and the world, an image of unity. By doing so, the royalty will preserve the support of the public which is something that the Prince of Wales wants to maintain as the future king of the United Kingdom.
