Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave up on their royal titles in 2020. After that, they made some shocking revelations about living with the royals, particularly with King Charles III and Prince William, which created lots of controversies and destroyed the relationship between the two families.
On top of that, Harry was not afraid to speak about the matter in his memoir, Spare, and confessed that he believes the royal family has always seen him as a replacement for William in case something happened to him. “Two years older than me, Willy was the Heir, whereas I was the Spare. I was the shadow, the support, the Plan B. I was brought into the world in case something happened to Willy.”
According to royal expert Tina Brown, this might be the reason why the two brothers continue to distance themselves from each other, making reconciliation more unlikely:
“The brothers are totally estranged, The longer Harry dwells on what happened in his life, the more he feels resentment against William. He feels, I think, that William was even more calculated, essentially, in making him the number two, making him the spare, and feel like the spare at all times.”
In addition, Brown expressed that she thinks there will not be any kind of interaction between the two during Charles’ coronation. “There is a lot of thought about how they will be positioned at Westminster Abbey during the Coronation. I don’t think we’ll see them sitting next to each other. In fact, I don’t think they will exchange a word over that day.”
