Prince Andrew might be losing a fundamental spot at King Charles III and Camilla Parker’s coronation. The ceremony will take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey and it will likely become the biggest event of the year in the United Kingdom.
Andrew was an official royal member for a long time. Over the years, he represented the monarchy and the country itself abroad. However, since November 2019 his popularity decreased notably after he gave an interview with Newsnight which was categorized as disastrous. Since then, he decided to retire from the public eye.
Although Andrew is not an official royal anymore, Buckingham Palace has not released a statement confirming or denying his attendance at the coronation. According to rumors, he is part of the more than 1000 attendees but he will be treated like a normal guest.
A few months ago, the local press reported that Andrew might not play any important role at the event. Despite this, his presence alone is going to be troublesome as several members of the royal family believe that he should have not been invited after facing allegations of sexual impropriety. There are raising concerns about several controversies stemming from the anticipated ceremony.
