The jewelry worn by the queen consort has caused great controversy, and is the subject of debate among the British population. Camilla Parker decided that at the coronation she would wear the same crown worn by Queen Mary of Teck, becoming the first queen consort to wear a crown from another consort “in the interest of sustainability and effectiveness“. However, changes were revealed that have been made to “reflect Camilla’s individual style” and “pay homage” to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The queen consort will wear a tiara set with 2,200 diamonds, two stones from the Cullinan diamond; one in the shape of a pear of 94.4 carats and another in the shape of a square of 63.6 carats, it is said that its weight is approximately one kilogram.
In addition, Camilla during the ceremony will also receive two scepters, which were the ones made in 1685 for the Italian queen consort, Mary of Modena. One of the scepters has a cross as a symbol of temporal power and the other has three pieces of elephant ivory. Finally, she too will receive a ring set with a large ruby, made for Queen Adelaide.
