King Charles III and Camilla Parker’s coronation is just around the corner and more details regarding the defining moments of the event have been unveiled. On top of that, a ceremony like this has not been celebrated in the United Kingdom since 70 years ago when the late Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne so the stakes are high.
Charles’ reign will officially begin on May 6 at Westminster Abbey and the ceremony is shaping up to be the most important event in the country this century. According to the Royal Family’s website, the defining moments of the coronation will be:
- The King’s Procession: Following tradition, the King and Queen of the United Kingdom will take a walk from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey. After this, they are going to return to the Palace in a golden carriage.
- Military Display: Back in the Palace, the monarchs are going to be received by the British army. It is expected that almost 60 military aircraft will form a flypast to honor the new monarchs.
- Balcony: The new King and Queen will stand on the balcony with other members of the royal family to wave to the thousands of people eagerly waiting for them outside Buckingham Palace.
- The Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle and the Big Lunch: Artists like Andrea Bocelli and Katy Perry are going to perform in honor of the new King and Queen.
The international and British media are expecting that more details regarding the ceremony will be revealed in the following days as King Charles III wants this day to be memorable both for him and Camilla Parker and, of course, the British people.
