Shakira, a Colombian musician, may be experiencing her issues with the Spanish tax authorities once more, and the Spanish government is retaliating strongly and bluntly.
The Colombian decided to move to the United States in order to have a fresh start away from the issues that plagued her in Barcelona and so that her children could be at peace without having to deal with the media constantly asking them for statements about their mother and their ex-football player father. In recent months, the Colombian has been pursued by a series of issues that have forced her to make strong decisions for both herself and her two children, Milan and Sasha.
Shakira may have relocated to a different continent, but it hasn’t stopped the difficulties from her former city from following her. For tax avoidance, the artist is currently having issues with the Spanish tax authorities once more. The singer has been called by the Spanish prosecutor’s office to appear in court on November 20, 2023.
Shakira is accused of evading taxes between 2012 and 2014 to the tune of approximately 14.5 million euros (16.2 million dollars). In addition, the singer faces a fine of 23.8 million euros (26.5 million dollars) for the same offense. The Spanish prosecutor is therefore requesting an eight-year and two-month prison sentence for the Colombian singer in order to make good on her tax evasion charges.
Shakira has just met with her attorneys to discuss the best approaches to resolve this issue as soon as possible and how to establish her innocence in relation to the allegations made against her.
