Jin and J-hope are accused of receiving benefits from the South Korean Army for being celebrities, and according to a well-known Asian media they would be receiving a “special treatment” while they are serving their obligatory military service in the Army.
On 18th of April, J-Hope started his military career as a recruit in the 36th division of the Republic of Korea Army National Defense Infantry, in Wonju-si, in the Gangwon province. That day, a group of soldiers settled in front of the entry to the military base, pulling out and inspecting every vehicle that entered the enclosure, which is not common.
Newsis stated that the military base granted access to one person per vehicle only, which would have been the main cause of this accusations, since that day was the same day that the idols were summoned to the military compound.
However, the 18th of April, during J-hope’s entry, six vehicles were authorized to enter the military base, all the vehicles were part of the HYBE organization, company in charge of representing the BTS members. The same number of vehicle admitted during Jin’s entry last December.
Newsis claimed that the military bases not only authorized the entry of six HYBE vehicles to each of their entry ceremonies, but also that the vehicle affiliated with HYBE received previous authorization, in contrast to all civils, who are pulled out and inspected at their arrival. For this reason, there have been suspicions about the “special treatment” that the celebrities received, to whom it was allowed to enter with many more known people than the normal civilians.
A representant from the Wonju military base spoke out about the rumors: “The general rule of one vehicle per recruit was advised for security reasons, but there was no need to strictly enforce it”.
What do you think? Should they receive any additional or special treatment due to their social status?
