Following the accession of her father-in-law, King Emeritus Juan Carlos I, Queen Letizia of Spain has separated herself from both her husband, King Felipe VI, and the Spanish royal family. The monarch refuses to live under the same roof with them because she does not want to be associated with any of the disputes between her husband and some of his relatives.
The queen has reportedly departed Zarzuela on the impending arrival of her father-in-law, even though there are no obvious reasons why Queen Letizia does not like King Juan Carlos’ visit.
For a number of years, it was well known that the King Emeritus, who lived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, had various issues that prevented him from traveling back to Spain. To the royals’ amazement, the former king or queen has chosen to return.
The trip’s announcement stunned both Felipe and Queen Letizia. The queen was so angry with her husband for failing to stop the trip that she became even angrier.
Felipe VI, however, has now made the decision to visit Malaga for the first time in order to meet with the five Spanish criminal masterminds. The “loyalty to the Crown” has been upheld in the speech by the head of state at the very moment that Don Juan Carlos completes his drift towards the independence of the institution.
“You have been an example of loyalty to the Crown and of service to Spain, showing a great capacity to adapt to the different historical stages”, said Don Felipe to the maestrantes to later affirm that they have shown “an exemplary loyalty”, said the King.
However, Queen Letizia did not hesitate to depart the Royal Palace when King Felipe VI was away since the Spanish crown’s internal issues are getting worse. She would not be willing to attend her father-in-law since she does not want to be in charge of his arrival.
