King Charles III continues to be in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Earlier this week, it was revealed that he did not invite one of his aunts and the British people caused an uproar on social media. According to the fans of royalty, Charles is a hypocrite because he has been trying to reunite his family but his actions are totally the opposite.
Lady Pamela Hicks, the cousin of the late Prince Philip, is no longer part of the two thousand attendees that will be at the coronation ceremony. In addition, she might also be stripped from her royal title. This is just another controversy under Charles’ belt as it was also revealed a few days ago that Meghan Markle and Sarah Ferguson are not going to attend either.
Lady Pamela’s daughter, India Hicks, decided to explain via Instagram that she received a call from the general secretary of Buckingham Palace to let her know that her mother is no longer on the guest list. Although the news caught her by surprise, she believes that it’s nothing personal as the decision might have been made to reduce expenses.
“This coronation was to be very different from the Queen’s. 8,000 guests would be whittled down to 1,000 alleviating the burden on the state. The King was sending his great love and apologies, he was offending many family and friends with the reduced list. My mother was not offended at all. Invitations are based on meritocracy, not aristocracy. I am going to follow with great interest the events of this new reign.”
King Charles III’s shocking decision caught by surprise almost all the British population because they did not think he was going to reduce the list, particularly leaving his family out. Some people believe that he’s not sending a message of unity and he should invite everyone.
