Prince Harry had a controversial request before accepting the invitation to King Charles III’s coronation ceremony

Prince Harry’s attendance at King Charles III’s official coronation was confirmed earlier this week by Buckingham Palace. The announcement caused a stir on social media due to Meghan Markle’s absence from the guest list. In addition, Harry apparently had a condition to attend his father’s coronation.

King Charles III’s coronation is closer than ever and several details were revealed regarding the ceremony. This will be the most important event in the royal family and the United Kingdom since Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation which took place 70 years ago. However, it is also shaping up to be the most controversial one.

Buckingham Palace’s statement revealed that Meghan’s absence is because she decided to stay in California with her two children, Archie and Lilibet. However, a close source in the palace confirmed that Harry had some conditions that needed to be respected for him to attend the ceremony. Some of them included having an important seat in the coronation, allowing him to participate in every royal activity,  having access to the balconies of the palace, and keeping the press away from him.

King Charles III is aware that Prince William and Prince Harry’s attendance is indispensable because it could improve the royal family’s reputation and image. It would also be the first step to reconciliation so he had no other choice than to comply with Harry’s requests.
