BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s acting debut series to screen at Cannes Film Festival

“The Idol,” the acting debut series of Jennie Kim, the singer of KPOP girl group BLACKPINK, will be screened at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, the organizer of the France-based festival said on Thursday, April 13.

According to the official invitation to the Cannes event, the TV series in which the BLACKPINK member stars has been invited to the Out of Competition section. In the same category is the film “Cobweb,” starring Song Kang-ho and directed by Kim Jee-woon.

The Idol” tackles the complicated relationship between pop artists who rise to fame and the entertainment industry. Canadian singer The Weeknd co-produced the American series, aired on HBO, in which he stars as Tedros.

BLACKPINK’s representation agency, YG Entertainment, said it has not yet been decided whether Jennie will attend the Cannes Film Festival in France. Of course, BLINK, the official name of BLACKPINK’s fandom, is very excited about the invitation and they wish the now actress to attend the celebration.

Regarding their group activities with Rosé, Lisa and Jisoo, the quartet currently continues to travel around the world with the “Born Pink World Tour”, a promotional concert tour for their latest studio album, “Born Pink”, and is expected to have a new musical comeback before the end of 2023.
