Amid rumors of separation between Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI of Spain, the monarch’s lawyers have confirmed that the head of state had a divorce agreement signed with her husband. However, this agreement was executed several years ago, and Letizia’s main objective is that she is not left stranded when she separates from her husband.
In recent weeks, rumors began to spread that the king and queen of Spain were separating. It all started after the controversial statements that journalist Pilar Eyre revealed in her blog ‘Lecturas‘. There, Eyre assured that the marriage of the kings was in a deep crisis, because of the differences that both have for the future of their eldest daughter, Princess Leonor.
The journalist assured that the divided ideas of both, has made them distance themselves massively. She even assured that the truth of all this is that they have not treated each other as husband and wife for months, so they only appear together for their royal duties.

In the midst of all the reports, there was also talk that although the heads of state are at odds, the idea of a divorce is somewhat distant, since Letizia is aware that if she legally separates from her husband, she would automatically lose custody of Leonor and Sofia, something she would not be willing to tolerate.
However, what could be confirmed is that the Queen’s lawyers managed to get Felipe to sign a divorce agreement. This agreement states that in case of divorce, the Spanish royalty will have to cede two properties and a permanent pension to Letizia, with which she could live in peace all her life.
The Spanish monarch agreed to sign without any problem, since he thought that his marriage to Letizia would last a lifetime. And perhaps this may be some truth, but the fights that currently exist between the two are completely real.
