Joe Biden, President of the United States, was not afraid to express his disapproval of King Charles III’s reign as the new Monarch of the United Kingdom. Biden rejected the invitation to the King’s official coronation which will take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey.
The president told Buckingham Palace that he is not going to attend the historic ceremony after 70 years of not being celebrated, Biden’s decision caused a stir on social media and experts described his actions as a clear sign of disrespect for his colleague.
Despite this, the White House announced that the First Lady, Jill Biden, is going to attend the ceremony in the representation of the United States. According to a source close to the politician, the president has other commitments which cannot be postponed.
President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. spoke today with King Charles III, underscoring the strength of the relationship between our countries and the friendship between our peoples. The President congratulated the King on his upcoming Coronation and informed him that First Lady Jill Biden looks forward to attending on behalf of the United States. The President also conveyed his desire to meet with the King in the United Kingdom at a future date.
Joe Biden’s absence from the ceremony is undoubtedly another low blow to King Charles III and Camilla Parker’s official coronation after multiple English singers rejected the offer made by Buckingham Palace to perform in the ceremony.
