Ricky Martin is in the midst of a new controversy after his nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sánchez Marín, claimed that the Puerto Rican singer has been abusing him since he was 12 years old. Dennis took the singer to the court in 2022 and said he won’t stop until the truth is revealed.
Ricky’s nephew attended the court in San Juan, Puerto Rico and he had to prove to the judge that he has all the capacities to continue with the lawsuit. “I just want the whole truth to come out” claimed Dennis when he left the court and reiterated his interest in going to trial because he already has a legal team backing him up.
Michael Corona, Denni’s lawyer, revealed they are not willing to negotiate a deal with Ricky’s lawyers at the moment. However, it’s something that could happen at a later date:
“We’re willing to listen to the other party… if an agreement is negotiated and reached, the court will be informed. Otherwise, we will continue with this whole process”
According to the lawyer, he has to prove that he can represent himself in court and that he has the minimum knowledge necessary to adequately defend his interest by complying with the procedural rules.
Ricky Martin’s nephew firmly maintains his position that he was abused by the artist when he was a minor. In addition, he also accuses him of extortion and psychological and domestic abuse.
