Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI have been going through a marital crisis during the last couple of years. The royal couple was not able to work on their differences and it was recently revealed that they were divorcing.
According to the recognized journalist Pilar Eye, Queen Letizia made King Felipe VI sign a divorce settlement agreement. This does not come as a surprise as the couple has reportedly not spoken to each other in months.
Pilar shared in her blog, Lecturas, that Letizia and Felipe’s relationship has been going downhill since at least 2015. During the same year, the Queen asked the King to sign a divorce settlement agreement which includes a compensatory pension and the ownership over two properties. Felipe signed without any restraint because he thought their marriage would last forever.
It is being said on social media that the couple distanced from each other due to their differences in regard to their older daughter’s future, Princess Leonor, who is next in the line of succession to the Spanish throne. Whether King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia’s divorce is effective or not, it is certain that the divorce agreement they signed back in 2015 is going to be fulfilled to the very last detail.
