BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has made the official release of her first solo album and becomes the last of the four members of the South Korean quartet to release music as a soloist artist, after Jennie, Lisa and Rosé, who launched their debut eras long before her, though the fans were expecting Jisoo’s debut to happen before Lisa and Rose’s debuts.
The reason for the delay on Jisoo’s debut album release has not been addressed by her company or herself, though the fans gather that it could have been delayed by the 28-year-old singer’s branch-out activities, such as an extensive publicity campaign with the luxury clothing brand Dior, as well as her appearance in the main role of a South Korea drama series, which kept her rather busy, interfering with her music schedule.
The debut album, titled “Me”, has met a significantly higher demand in comparison to her “coworkers” solo releases, which is mostly due to the high expectations and the anticipation it gathered on social media, matter of fact, it broke the record as the album by a soloist Korean singer with the most pre-orders on digital platforms, with an astonishing 1.3 million pre-orders.
The predictions for the commercial performance of the album are highly positive, and the two songs on the album promise to be the biggest singles on the Kpop market, but you can judge that by yourself by listening to the debut single right here.
