A few months away from crowning R’Bonney Gabriel as queen of Miss Universe 2022, the organization has announced who would be the new winner of the pageant.
On January 14th, another edition of the famous beauty pageant took place, in which more than 80 candidates competed. However, the organization announced that now there is a new winner of Miss Universe two months after the coronation of Miss USA, R’Bonney Gabriel, as the pageant made a statement announcing the great news.
During the last night of the pageant, in which R’Bonney Gabriel was crowned, the winners of some categories were also announced, such as the Impact Project 2022, which was awarded to Miss Thailand, while Miss Congeniality went to Miss Chile and Miss Malta. On this occasion, the Miss Universe 2022 edition counted with the presence of 84 countries that showed their culture in the parade of typical costumes in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, in the United States.
The parade took place with each one of the candidates, who wore traditional costumes full of feathers, flights, glitter and colors that represented the traditions of their respective countries. However, two months after the great night of Miss Universe in its 71st edition, it was announced that Viktoria Apanasenko, Miss Ukraine, is the new winner of the award for Best Costume with her design “Warrior of Light”, through an official statement.
Viktoria Apanasenko put her country’s name on high in the renowned beauty contest, Miss Universe, which took place on January 14th in New Orleans, United States. Although she was not crowned the winner, as that title was awarded to the representative of the USA, R’Bonney Gabriel, she has just won another important recognition, thanks to her outfit entitled “Warrior of Light”, which symbolizes the struggle of the Ukrainian people for peace in difficult times. The costume depicts a woman who seeks to bring light to the whole country and put an end to war, to bring joy back to her native Ukraine.

The outfit that the new winner, Viktoria Apanasenko, wore at the Miss Universe 2022 costume pageant consists of several pieces that symbolize her country’s fight against darkness. It includes an archangel sword, a monolithic jumpsuit that functions as armor, a vyshyvanka-style dress, a headdress and angel wings. The idea behind the costume was to depict an angel protecting Ukraine with his sword, fighting against darkness and bringing light to the country.

“We did it! I won the nomination for the best national costume at Miss Universe and dedicated this award to every Ukrainian, every warrior of light fighting now for the future of Ukraine. For the first time in the history of the Miss Universe pageant, a Ukrainian won 1st place out of 86 countries for the best national costume” Viktoria Apanasenko shared on her social media. “Creating this costume, we wanted to embody the idea that war cannot break our forces and discolor our hearts. Even burning, Ukraine will be reborn as a phoenix and shine with rays of kindness and faith” added the new winner of the pageant.
