In the months since the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Kate Middleton’s life has been a succession of “firsts”. Today was no different, as she carried out a historic engagement on the occasion of St. Patrick’s Day.
Kate visited Ireland for the first time since being made a Colonel. She was accompanied by her husband, Prince William, who is the outgoing Colonel of the Irish Guards. Following a recent visit to the 1st Battalion of the Irish Guards on Salisbury Plain, this week, the Princess made her debut on parade as Colonel of the Regiment.
Elegant as ever despite the wind and rain, Kate Middleton appeared in a spectacular green ensemble in a nod to style as tradition dictates. She paired a long teal coat with matching heels and a wide-brimmed hat and snood. She topped off her ensemble with a bouquet of green flowers pinned to her lapel.

During the event, the princess appeared happier than ever, after the British press had made a series of accusations regarding Prince William’s infidelities with several women, including Rose Hanbury, Middleton’s former best friend.
