The victory of Jamie Lee Curtis was not too surprising given the predictions, except for one of her rivals, Angela Bassett. The 58-year-old Wakanda Forever performer garnered endless praise for her acclaimed role as Queen Ramonda in the Marvel movie, as well as enjoying an intense promotional campaign from the film’s fans.
However, none of this was enough for the academy to choose her performance, not even the possibility that a hypothetical triumph would serve as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, star of the first installment of the saga.
Angela Bassett’s reaction to Jamie Lee Curtis’ name being called…you can tell how much that Oscar would have meant to her. she is, was, and always will be incredible. I better see her on that stage SOON pic.twitter.com/oHDfuDUksG

Once it was confirmed that Jamie Lee Curtis was the winner of the statuette, Angela Bassett‘s face went completely cold and she made a brief grimace of displeasure.
.
The obvious displeasure did not go unnoticed by the millions of viewers of the ceremony, nor by the Internet users most willing to find any anecdote that could end up in a meme or enter the history of the predictions.
And so it was, since in a matter of a few seconds, twitter began to burn with all kinds of reactions for and against such a gesture, a sign for some of the umpteenth injustice committed against Bassett and, for others, a sign that the interpreter lacks a point of humility.
Be that as it may, 64-year-old Jamie Lee Curtis lifted her first golden statuette for one of the most acclaimed performances of her career, courtesy of the most awarded film of the year.
