Prince Harry revealed he filed a lawsuit against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) and the court hearings will begin in May of the current year. This is the Prince’s first move to try and clean his image and improve the public perception of him and his wife, Meghan Markle.
The main reason that led him to sue the publisher of the Daily Mirror newspaper, one of the most recognized and read publications in the United Kingdom, is the alleged hacking of his phone to obtain private information about him and the royal family. The trial will begin in May and Harry is only one of the many public figures that decided to retaliate against the newspaper.
David Sherborne, the lawyer who is representing Harry, explained that this particular case will only have one witness and it will be the Prince. According to the Duke of Sussex, his phone was repeatedly hacked between 1996 and 2011 on behalf of journalists of the MGN group to try and get information about his life and publish stories to profit from it.
It is not a secret that Prince Harry is one of the most controversial figures in the royal family so he has become an easy target for the tabloids which like to take advantage of the scandals that surround him. However, it looks like he is tired of this and will do anything to improve his reputation.
