The widely-recognized American actor Will Smith caused a stir on social media after a new set of photos were released. This is the first official piece of media that features him since the incident at the 94th Academy Awards where the actor slapped the host Chris Rock after he made a series of jokes about Jada Pinkett Smith. Will also received the prestigious Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role that same evening.
It’s not surprising that Smith’s reputation and public image were heavily affected after he assaulted someone during the live broadcast. The Academy banned him from attending any of their events for 10 years and the general public expressed their discontent on social media with the actions of someone who used to be a beloved actor.
Despite this, it looks like the public opinion on him is shifting again and people are leaving the incident behind. The center of the discussion is moving towards his shocking physical appearance. Smith underwent a drastic transformation to take on the leading role of his latest film, “Emancipation”, which premiered on Apple TV+ in 2022 with a limited theatrical release.
The movie tells the story of an African-American slave named Peter who escapes from Louisiana to find his freedom. The character has a fully grown beard, dirty clothes and the semblance of someone that has lived a difficult life.
Although some people are still debating whether or not it’s ethical for him to return to acting, some fans are glad to see him again, even if it’s on the small screen.
