Selena Gomez defends herself and begs the public to set the charges aside as she reminds them that no one has the right to comment on another person’s physique in response to the ongoing criticism she has received for the changes in her weight.
Selena Gomez stressed that, despite having days where she feels self-conscious about her appearance, she prefers to stick with her treatment during a live broadcast for social networks in which she explained that her weight tends to fluctuate because of the medications she takes to control her lupus.
“When I take it, I tend to retain a lot of water weight and that happens very normally. When I stop taking it, I tend to lose weight. Yes, we have days when maybe we feel bad, but I prefer to be healthy and take care of myself . My medications are important and they are what help me,” she said.
She also said that her message aims to inspire everyone who is through a similar situation, emphasizing that people need not be self-conscious about their appearance.
“I just wanted to tell them about my situation to try to raise the spirits of anyone who feels some kind of shame for going through something similar, without anyone knowing their true story,” Selena Gomez said.
“I just wanted to say I love you guys, and thank you for supporting me and understanding. And if not, go away, because I honestly don’t believe in shaming people for (their bodies), or anything.”
“I don’t care about my weight because people complain about it anyway: ‘You’re too small, you’re too big, that doesn’t fit.’ Perr*, I’m perfect like this and,'” she concluded.
