The prince William has caught the attention of the rest of the members of the Royal Family and the public eye’s as well, because he has been seen in multiple occasions on different events wearing a watch on each wrist, just like his mother, and while most think this could be simply a homage to the late Princess Diana, it’s more complex than that.
Sources that claim to be close to the Royal Family cleared out the theory by confirming that he does wear it in honor of his mother, who also liked to wear two watches, but he does it for a different reason.
As it turns out, one of the watches is an Omega Seamaster 300m, a luxurious watch that his mother gifted him and that he keeps as a physical item to remember her by. The watch on his other wrist is a common watch that he uses for daily life.
This is not the hottest fashion statement that William is partaking on, this was actually introduced by the Lady Di in 1981, in that year, she was seen on multiple occasions wearing two watches, mostly for her husband’s polo matches.
When asked about it, she said that she would wear one watch, but when her husband, the Prince Charles (now King Charles), participated in the matches, she would ask him to leave his watch with her so she could keep it safe, and that’s when the pictures were taken. She also said she did that as a cute way of showing her affection.
Truly a loving woman that deserved the best, and instead, she received treason. Her husband cheated on her with Camilla Parker, she discovered them, and she divorced him. Shortly after, she passed away on a tragic car accident in Paris. Not much later, he married the mistress and is about to crown her as the Queen Consort of the United Kingdom, with the lowest popularity possible.
What do you think about this gesture from the prince to his mother?
