When the Recording Academy’s Grammy Awards, one of the four most significant honors in the American arts and entertainment urbe, were presented on Sunday, February 5, BTS was the Asian share.
They are regarded as the highest distinction a musical artist can obtain because they are given to performers who succeed in their songs and albums. A gramophone has already been given to well-known figures in the field like Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Eminem, and Beyonce.
They were nominated for a second time at the 2019 Grammys in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category for their work with seven-time Grammy winners Coldplay. As a result of their collaboration, “My Universe,” which was a part of Coldplay’s album that received nominations for Album of the Year and Best Music Video, the Korean group received two additional nominations.
They did not win any of the categories, which was unfortunate and disappointing for all of their fans. BTS also made history by being the first group to lose the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category three times in a row.
Additionally, all of the nominees’ videos were shown during the Video of the Year award ceremony, but in the case of BTS, a Hyundai commercial using the song from the nominated video rather than the original video was shown. As a result, the band’s fans are accusing the organization of being racist and disrespectful to the Asian nominees.
