Colombian singer and songwriter Shakira and her ex-mother-in-law, Monserrat Bernabéu, mother of Shakira’s ex-husband Gerard Piqué, saw each other at the party that he organized for the 8th birthday of one of the two sons the couple had, and there was a tense situation provoked by Monserrat.
Mother and son were present at the party as family of the birthday boy, Sasha, who, by the way, has been reported to be very affected by the split of his two parents, and he keeps a very special bond with his grandparents from his father’s side of the family.
The now retired Barcelona Football Club player organized the party at his mother’s house because he knew it’s besides his ex-wife’s house. Yes, Shakira is neighbor to her ex-mother-in-law, just as she told in her diss track.
Local paparazzi Jordi Martí showed to multiple Spanish media outlets that Shakira and Monserrat met at the party and the encounter was far from happy, allegedly, they even had an argument behind closed doors, all due precisely to Shakira’s diss track where she ridiculed Piqué and his new girlfriend who he cheated on Shakira with.
The diss track in question broke records in all platforms for being the most streamed Spanish song in Spotify in the first 24 hours and first week as well, the most watched Spanish music video in YouTube in the first 24 hours and first week, along with other records for paid downloads, for a Spanish song.
The song was quite controversial due to it’s lyrics degrading Piqué to a “novice”, comparing herself to a Rolex and a Ferrari while Piqué’s mistress is degraded to a Cassio and a Twingo (Renault car).
As if that was not enough, she name dropped both of them in a pun. The song was a success so big that the Colombian artist is already planning another song with similar thematic along with her fellow Colombian hitmaker Karol G.
