Prince Harry’s new biographical book has left some shocking revelations.
Prince Harry revealed that Queen Elizabeth II wasn’t really as nice as everyone thought when it came to his marriage to Meghan Markle, as the queen initially had a bad response.
Recalling the exact moment, Prince Harry wrote in his book about the landmark moment when he asked Queen Elizabeth for permission to marry Meghan Markle. Harry told the Queen, “I was told that before I can propose to her, I have to ask your permission.”
To which she replied, “Oh! Do you have to?” Harry told her that he had heard it was a royal tradition and that he had to do it. But instead of congratulating him, Queen Elizabeth II responded with her characteristic dry humor. “Well, I guess I’ll have to say yes.”
.
As he reveals in his new book, this confused Prince Harry because he didn’t know how to read his grandmother’s movements, as he personally expected a warmer or more emotional response. In closing, Harry wrote:
“I couldn’t understand her, is she acting sarcastically, is she being ironic. I never knew Grandma could use a pun, and it was a very strange, not to mention very embarrassing, moment for her to begin with, but maybe she just saw the opportunity to play with my world, so she couldn’t contain herself.
“
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have always had nice things to say about Queen Elizabeth and prefer to avoid commenting on her, but apparently their relationship was not as close and loving as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously led us to believe.
