NewJeans has been the talk of the town in the Kpop industry for quite some time, and now, it looks like they will also be the talk of the town for the worldwide music industry as well.
The group debuted on July 22nd of last year with a surprise release music video for “Attention”, breaking the mold for Kpop music video releases, since most groups tend to release short teaser videos days prior to the full release, and well, it looks like breaking molds is their motto.
They have also broken the mold of the “growing careers” that most Kpop groups have, such as BLACKPINK and BTS, who debuted with mild success and grew exponentially afterwards. Well, instead, NewJeans decided to go beast mode from debut with their incredibly successful songs, “Hype Boy” and “Attention”, as well as their other two tracks from their first EP that have been quite successful for non-single tracks.
As if that wasn’t enough, their second single, titled “Ditto” is earning records left and right, and it has just entered two of the biggest Billboard charts, taking the 8th spot in the Global 200 Chart and the 4th place on the Global 200 Excl. US chart, an amazing feature for a rising artist that is already competing with the biggest names.
The other groups that have achieved similar success are other two girl groups, IVE with their hit song “Love Dive”, which was their second single, and LE SSERAFIM, who got incredible recognition for their first two singles “FEARLESS” and specially the second one, “ANTIFRAGILE”.
LE SSERAFIM have also had a lot of successful non-single tracks, just as much as NewJeans.
