Spotify is, at the moment, the biggest streaming service in the world, however, it’s not so popular on South Korea, mostly because the citizens of the country prefer the streaming services that are offered by the local companies.
For that reason, Spotify numbers are a great way to measure how popular Kpop artists are outside of South Korea, just by looking and comparing the numbers they achieve on their songs. To the surprise of absolutely nobody, BTS and BLACKPINK took some of the spots on the list, but there are other spots occupied by some unexpected songs from very unexpected artists.
However, surprisingly enough, there are some songs that you would expect would be on the list but aren’t, such LE SSERAFIM with their hit songs “FEARLESS” and “ANTIFRAGILE” or NewJeans with their successful songs “Attention” and “Hype Boy”.
Also, legendary groups such as TWICE and Stray Kids don’t have any song inside the top 10 most streamed songs of the year, making it the first year that TWICE does not appear on the list. Here are the song for you to know.
