Popular South Korean kpop group BTS has officially become the first foreign artist in history to top the year-end artist rankings in some charts in Japan. This is a historical record that will be remembered
BTS never ceases to amaze their fans with their worldwide success, and now, the South Korean Kpop septet became the first foreign artist to top Oricon’s year-end artist rankings, which rank the best-selling artists of the year in Japan.Â
Japan is the second largest and most important music market in the world, so achieving this kind of thing in Japan solidifies you as a very profitable artist in the music scene.
The annual rankings are determined by calculating the total sales of an artist’s singles, albums and DVDs, as well as their playback data, for the entire year. Following the achievement, the members of Bangtan commented as follows:
“We were able to receive this award, which is a great honor, thanks to ARMY [the BTS fandom] and the many people who love our music. We were really happy to be able to hold concerts in various places this year and meet ARMY from all over the world. We will try to become an artist that can return that love through even better music in the future.
We are grateful to ARMY for giving us their unchanging love.”
