Amber Heard’s insurer refuses to pay Depp judgment and she’s in big trouble
After the trial between the actors Amber Heard and Johnny Depp for defamation, from which the Pirates of the Caribbean star emerged victorious, much has been said regarding the actions to be taken by Amber, about when she will pay.
Since according to documents obtained by the American media TMZ, the actress of ‘Aquaman’ sued her insurance company, ‘New York Marine and General Insurance Co.’, for refusing to pay the damages of the trial.
This is because when she had the insurance policy, she was insured for one million dollars, which would help to cover part of the expenses involved in her lawsuit against Johnny Depp, but the insurer refused to pay.
Although the policy would not even cover a tenth of the amount stipulated by the Virginia court, since she must pay 10 million dollars for defamation, by way of compensation, and another 350 thousand dollars as punitive damages, the actress would seek to have the damages paid.
Sources close to the celebrity revealed that after the verdict became known, Amber asked New York Marine and General Insurance Co.
to release the $1 million it had available, but the company refused claiming that she committed acts of willful misconduct
Amber reportedly decided to sue, as she claims the company promised to give her the money to cover part of the expenses, regardless of the court verdict, and despite the unconditional deal, they did not honor it.
So far neither Amber nor the company have made a statement on the matter, it is known that the actress hired the insurance company when she was in the middle of her trial against Johnny Depp.
