All K-Pop idols constantly face scrutiny from netizens at some point in their career. Although the BLACKPINK members continually receive praise for their immense talent and interactions, Jennie has been pegged as cold.
Her idol has opened up in the past about how many have misconceptions about her, for example, how her genuine shyness led to her receiving criticism from netizens online.
“Nowadays, I realize I have to [say hello], otherwise it’s going to go bad, so I came out of that shell“, Jennie said.
“When I was a trainee, I often heard, ‘Why does Jennie always seem angry? At the time, it hurt my feelings. I’m not angry. I’m shy in front of other people. Instead of feeling hurt, I accept it and try harder. Next time“

However, in a recent interview with ELLE, she revealed another misconception they have about her and her interviews in English. The BLACKPINK member is fluent in English and Korean, appearing calm and confident as she speaks it, but she isn’t really like that.
“[The most important thing that most people don’t know about me is] that I get very shy when I speak English and when I’m doing interviews“, the idol admits.
“I don’t think people realize how nervous I am on the inside and in fact I’m literally shaking on the inside“.
“But yeah, try to stay calm“.
