During a visit to the city of York, in the United Kingdom, the two monarchs were attacked by a crowd that made clear that they are not fond of the crown members.
The English Monarchy is an institution with great influence in the religious matters, the politics, and the culture of the country as well. It has existed for centuries, is the most famous monarchy in the world and one of the last ones still active.
As that, the Monarchs are deserving of the maximum respect from all the population they govern upon. In history, there have been very few ones who have dared to speak badly about a member of the Royal Family or spread a malicious image. In this occasion, however, a group of people have crossed the line and instead of just mouthing something, they directly attacked the King Charles III and the Queen Consort Camilla Parker Bowles.
The incident took place as the monarchs were making an appearance in the city of York, they were greeting the public, and the news reporters that were also present in the ceremony to unveil the newest statue of the mother of the king, the late Queen Elizabeth II. Out of nowhere, eggs were thrown at the two, and the crowd started booing them. A total humiliation, indecorous and scandalous, and that no monarch had ever experienced.
It looks like the public image of the new King is even less favorable that his mother’s image, which is a lot to say. It’s a fact that the British don’t feel the same respect and admiration for the current monarchs as much as they did in the past, proof of that, is that The Queen Elizabeth, may she rest in peace, was not quite popular at the moment of her passing, and her successor, her son, the now King Charles III, has an even less favorable image.
The scandals of his youth and the drama with the late Princess Diana of Wales, who was widely loved by the British, has stained his public image for the rest of his life to the point where he has now been publicly humiliated, in his own territory.
However, a big enough part of the public was making a choir with the famous sentence “God Save the King”, proving that there is still hope for the monarchy in the public. Here’s a video of the incident.
